OUR MISSION AND VALUES
PHDS is a K-8 yeshiva day school that provides a quality education while molding sterling character in each of our students. We produce respectful and empathetic leaders of tomorrow who have a deep and lasting commitment to a Torah way of life.
Derech Eretz
The administration, faculty, staff and students strive to build relationships with each other based on mutual respect and compassion. The school models and prioritizes derech eretz for all peoples, while the students realize the only way to learn, and grow, is through respectful inquiry and curiosity. We inculcate deep ahavat Yisrael in our students by promoting respect for others through valuing diversity in opinion, and by strengthening their connection and feeling of responsibility to the Jewish people.
Quality Education
We inspire each child to a lifetime love of the pursuit of knowledge and learning. We are committed to helping all students love rigorous learning by providing them with instructional support to develop their individual talents and address specific needs. Students develop critical thinking and analytical skills that allow them to internalize information and apply it to new situations and new contexts. Successful students make a commitment to create quality work, continually ask questions and learn from mistakes, and strive for excellence.
Chessed
Our school relationships and our curriculum exemplify the intentional use of the power of each person to make a difference in his or her world. We motivate students to use their words, actions, time and talent to help themselves and those around them.
Social and Emotional Growth
We equip our students for educational success through the integration of cognitive, emotional and social growth which includes the intentional nurturing of creativity, emotional maturity and self-confidence. We supply ample opportunities for students to learn and apply social, emotional, and related skills, attitudes, behaviors, and values that help encourage their growth. With a focus on thoughts, feelings, and actions, we unlock the innate potential of our children to be successful both in and out of school. We have implemented a social emotional curriculum that addresses prosocial skills and self regulation through group activities, education for our parents, and individual support as our students grow and learn.
Emunah
We exist to develop a powerful sense of emunah and yirat shamayaim in our students and to inspire them to make a commitment to careful and meaningful observance of the Torah.
Halacha
We imbue our students with the responsibility to live according to Halacha. Our students take pride in mastering the foundational halachic concepts and knowledge that enable them to live as Torah jews. All practices of the school are consistent with halacha in consultation with our rabbinic advisory board.
THE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN
PARENT & SCHOOL
The parents and the school support each other in the growth and success of every child, and we empower parents to be actively involved and engaged. We hold each other accountable to living by these values; we communicate often and effectively with each other; the actions and attitudes in both the school and the home environment support each other.
THE JOY OF LIVING A TORAH LIFESTYLE
Our administration, faculty and staff embody the intense joy of living a Torah lifestyle and teach by example. Our curriculum, our school activities and our discipline system promote a sense of joy in living a Torah way of life.
CONNECTION TO THE LAND OF ISRAEL
We dedicate ourselves to developing in our students a deep spiritual bond with Eretz Yisrael and a proud sense of identification with Medinat Yisroel
Conscious Discipline
Conscious Discipline teaches children to name their emotions, regulate them, and then solve problems. It is an evidence based approach to social emotional learning that focuses on teaching children to access higher brain states through self regulation. We ensure our children feel safe and loved while dealing with dysregulation or conflict.
